about

If I could have, I would have named this band (or project) Ghosts instead of New Age Healers but it turns out that name has been taken. Maybe I should have gone with Ghosts U.K., alas, I love the word and all its meanings.

The song is about the fragility of friendships written under the guise of a spy-novel. Why a spy-novel you ask? Good question, and thank you for asking. I love the language that clandestine operatives employ; they speak in a manner that makes entertaining metaphors. As for the line, “I’ll wish you good day,” it’s stolen from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and made me chuckle, nay chortle.

Musically, this song is all about arrangement and elements as it only has two-parts. Loud drums, big crash cymbals, no drums; simple bass-line then bluesy bass lines; repetitive guitar riff. I imagined this song opening a live-set.

The video, and subsequent narrative, was cobbled together from Super-8 footage I shot while in film school in Minneapolis.

lyrics

She
She slipped away
Cold sun, fights with the grey
We ran
Her dossier
Her ghosts
Gave her away

And I'll wish you good day
Wish you good day

She
She slipped away
Rumors
Led us astray
Our dance
a drunken ballet
My ghosts
Gave me away

And I'll wish you good day
Wish you good day
